Hazlerigg Parish Wildlife Gardening Competition 2026

Have you been planting for pollinators? Do you have bird boxes or bat boxes? What about a pond? Maybe you have a hedgehog house or a hedgehog highway? Or maybe you are simply letting nature do its thing, leaving the grass (and those lovely wildflowers!) to grow to provide food and shelter for insects? Maybe you’re removing your plastic grass, converting to peat-free compost, adding pot plants to your yard or making a window planter? Whatever you’re doing for wildlife, we want to hear from you!

We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who has been supporting bumblebees and solitary bees.

To enter, send up to 3 photos of your garden or outdoor space by 1st September 2026 to clerk@hazleriggparishcouncil@gov.uk and up to 100 words telling us what you’ve been doing for wildlife.

First prize – £50 worth of bee and butterfly friendly plants
