Message from Dartford Borough Council

Our Planning Service uses something called a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) as a guide when considering any planning applications. They are used by local authorities to build upon and provide more detailed advice or guidance on policies in a Local Plan.

We are currently consulting on three new SPDs for the Borough, and welcome your views on them. These documents cover the following issues:

  • Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs)
  • Sustainable transport locations/settlements
  • The River Darent, and managing flood risk in Dartford

We are asking for feedback to make sure the draft SPDs are as effective as possible. As part of responding to this consultation, we are asking for: feedback on the guidance within the document, whether the document is easy to use and understand, and any other comments that you may have.

The consultations are open from 27th April - 27th May 2026. You can find out more and have your say on our website.
