The High Sheriff of Cumbria paid a visit to Alexander House Community Care Hub on Friday 12 February, recognising the vital role the service plays in supporting local people and strengthening community wellbeing.

During the visit, the High Sheriff gaining first-hand insight into the wide range of support due to be offered by the hub. Discussions focused on how Alexander House is responding to local needs, tackling social isolation, and providing a welcoming and inclusive space.

The High Sheriff praised the dedication of the team and highlighted the importance of community-led services in supporting health, wellbeing and independence, particularly for older people and those who may be vulnerable or isolated.
The visit also provided an opportunity to reflect on the challenges facing community services and the importance of collaboration between voluntary organisations, public services and local leaders.

Speaking after the visit, the directors from Alexander House said they were delighted to welcome the High Sheriff and appreciated the opportunity to share the impact of their work within the community. They noted that recognition from the High Sheriff’s office helps raise awareness of the hub’s services and the difference they make to local residents.

The High Sheriff’s visit forms part of their wider role in supporting voluntary organisations, community groups and initiatives across Cumbria, celebrating good practice and partnership working.
