With Christmas fast approaching, here is a quick look back to our Bonfire Weekend in Darsham, Suffolk.

People's highlights of the weekend include:

  • Learning we're walking over the top of a buried town on the outskirts of Aldeburgh.
  • Enjoying a Fishers Gin distillary tour on a very wet Sunday afternoon. Sampling their wonderful gin and gin cocktails - and being poured out afterwards!
  • The impromptu mixed-doubles pool tournament at the hostel.
  • Getting nearly blown off a windsept pier at Southwold. Seeing amazing rollers there and learning George Orwell had a connection to the place with the mural by 'Pure Evil' artist!
  • Great ride on the tandem to Thorpeness.
  • The antique place - like something out of Steptoe & Son.
  • A very rainy exploration of Framlingham Castle.
  • Staring longingly, unable to get into the smallest pub in the country - The Nutshell
  • Our detour to Bury St Edmonds on the way home.
