Horton Kirby
The 30 saplings provided by the Woodland Trust have been planted around Westminster field. The hedging saplings planted by over enthusiastic volunteers in the picnic area have been moved to provide hedging between the Heathside and the Allotments.
The mesh for the temporary over flow car park has been installed and after some much needed rain, the grass is growing nicely around it. It will take about 6 weeks before the grass is securely entwined to give a sound base.
South Darenth
Work to install the new playground in Shrubbery Road is well under way and will be open as soon as it has passed the inspection.
You may have noticed that one of the trees on the village green in South Darenth has been removed. Unfortunately it was found to be diseased and so had to be felled. The Parish Council will plant at least 2 trees in place of it as part of their Environmental Policy.
Newsletter
With hopes of restrictions being lifted further and of life returning to the new 'normal', the Parish Council decided to re-start printing the Newsletter. Our wonderful volunteers should be receiving their bundles to distribute in the next week, a big thank you for the time you take to deliver these to every household in Horton Kirby & South Darenth.
We do have vacancies to help out with Esparto Way, Horton Road (South Darenth end) and Kingfisher Place. Please contact the Parish Office if you are interested.
