Norfolk County Council (NCC) Highways has been working with National Highways and have a plan in place to partially re-open the A1065 at Swaffham by creating a one-way north bound lane on the A1065. This decision was reached following discussions with the structural engineer, who did not want both lanes in use, but approved the use of one lane only.

NCC Highways will also implement a TTRO with a 6’6” width restriction (again at the request of the structural engineer following the survey of the damaged property) to prevent use by HGVs who will have to follow a signed diversion, soon to be implemented.

These measures have been in consultation with the NCC Network Coordinator.

The aim is to maintain traffic flow through Swaffham as much as possible given the restrictions caused by the dangerous building, whilst removing HGVs from passing by the building as a safety precaution.
