As part of a recent model re-structuring by Kent Police, our communities across the County will see the Beat Officer Police Constable role created. It is my pleasure to introduce myself as the new officer for Birchington and Westgate on Sea.

Over the coming weeks I will be engaging with residents and businesses in both Westgate on Sea and Birchington. This will include high visibility patrolling on foot and the distribution of my contact details, so that you have the opportunity to speak with me and discuss your crime and anti-social behaviour concerns for the area. This will then be used to direct our problem solving and patrolling function, so please engage with the process and assist us in directing the local priorities for Kent Police. This is your opportunity to have a direct relationship with Kent Police and between us, address issues that are affecting the community.

I have received an excellent handover from PCSO Shrubsole, who was previously responsible for the wards. As such, I know there are existing concerns around anti-social behaviour at both train stations and the nearby businesses. Please rest assured this will be a focus of attention by myself, and considerable work has already been done to identify those responsible and intervention work is being undertaken in a collaborative approach across our Community Safety Unit. Please continue to report any such behaviour using our Kent Police Online Reporting Tool which can be accessed on the Kent Police website. In the event of an emergency, dial 999.

This week is the Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action, and as such you may see Police Officers deployed across Thanet at various engagement events, especially around our coastal towns, with crime prevention literature and some fun freebies.

Kind regards

PC Steven England
