Sevenoaks District Council is once again looking for local superheroes as part of its Voluntary and Community Awards.

The ‘Making It Happen’ awards recognise residents and organisations who go the extra mile to help others in the District.

This year, there are eleven award categories, including Local Hero, Volunteer Group of the Year and Contribution to the Environment. The Council is encouraging residents to nominate people and groups who they believe stood out over the last year.

Cabinet Member for People and Places, Cllr Lesley Dyball, says: “We love to see the hardworking, selfless people and organisations across the District receive recognition for what they do. The ‘Making It Happen’ awards is always a fantastic evening and we can’t wait to see who is nominated for next year.”

“We want you to get involved by putting forward a person or organisation who you feel deserves recognition for the work they do. The deadline is at 4pm on Friday 31 December 2022.”

The awards will take place on Wednesday 15 March 2022 at St Nicholas’s Church, Sevenoaks and will see people from across the District being rewarded for their hard work and contribution.

The categories are:

  • Charity Project of the Year
  • Community arts/sports group of the year
  • Youth group of the year

  • Local hero - outstanding individual community champion
