Have you noticed the new historic boards at the nature reserves? Have you wondered who looks after the upkeep of our play parks and open spaces, or who officially pushes back when outside planners propose projects that don’t fit our village?

That is your Parish Council at work.

The Council is part of the first tier of local government, arguably the level that is closest to the local community. It has a maximum of seven councillors who serve the community for a four-year term. The current term of office ends in May 2027.

Right now, we have a seat waiting to be filled.

You don’t need a background in politics or decades of experience. You just need to care about our community. Whether you have lived here for six months or sixty years, your unique perspective as a resident is exactly what is needed.

The truth is that the council is only as strong, active, and passionate as the people who step up to sit at the table. Help us turn local complaints into direct, positive action.

What Does it Actually Involve?

Many people hesitate to step forward because they worry it will take over their lives. It requires just a few hours a month. The council meets once a month for 2 hours on a Monday evening to discuss local planning, green spaces, community grants, and issues raised by residents.

If you want to keep our village vibrant, safe, and beautiful for the future, this is the most direct way to do it. Don't leave the big decisions about our community's future to someone else.

How to Take the Next Step

The process to apply or express interest is incredibly straightforward.

Come and see for yourself: Attend one of our next meetings on 2 November or 7 December in the Institute at 7.30pm just to observe—no strings attached.

Have a chat: Contact our Parish Clerk, Mrs Askey, on 07948716608 or clerk@northcrawley-pc.gov.uk for an informal, no-pressure chat about what is involved.

Your village only thrives when its residents get involved. Will you fill one of the chairs?

Thank you. Parish Clerk www.northcrawley-pc.gov.uk
