CARD DELIVERY SCAM

Fake emails stating undelivered bank or credit cards.

⛔ Be on the lookout for FAKE emails informing you about an undelivered bank or credit card. The email states that the recipient has a bank or credit card waiting to be delivered to them and provides an email address to contact and arrange delivery. The contact information in the emails do not belong to the legitimate banks or credit card providers and is criminals trying to steal your personal/financial data and your money.

If you receive a suspicious email then forward it to report@phishing.gov.uk

If you think that you may have been a victim of this or any other type of scam, then contact your Bank immediately, which you can do by calling 159 and report it to Action Fraud or call 0300 123 2040.

HOME WIFI

Cold callers target Kent residents to gain access to WiFi by pretending to be in local Airbnbs

❌ Resident received a cold caller this week who claimed to be staying at an Airbnb on her road. He asked to use their internet as he was having an issue with the Airbnb's. Luckily, the house he mentioned was the residents friend so she was able to call and confirm that it was not being used for Airbnb and this was a scam.

🚨 This is a scam. Do not give out your personal WiFi number to anyone that does not live in your household or that is a guest in your house that you know well.

❎ Say NO to cold callers. You can report cold callers to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or vist their website 100% anonymously.

❎ Be cyber aware and visit the National Cyber Security Centre for tips on how to keep your data safe online.

EBAY SCAM

Kent resident threatened with court action in eBay scam

❌ A Kent resident recently purchased a bag on eBay that they now believe to be a scam. Since the purchase they have now received a solicitor's letter stating they have not paid for the bag and threatening to take them to court however, the information in the letter is not correct as it relates to a different product and situation.

🚨 This is a scam. Do not communicate with buyers or sellers outside of the eBay website so that you can report any scammers straight to eBay.

ASDA RECALLS - George Home Sleep Bags

Asda recalls 8 George Home Sleepbags for age 0 - 36 months as there is a risk that the snap buttons on the bags can become loose and may detach.

Full details here. Asda are asking customers to stop the sleeping bags in the link and return to your local ASDA store for a full refund. You do not need your receipt.

Multiple recalls for items with high and serious risk levels from AliExpress

The Office of Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) have issued a number of product recalls for the online marketplace AliExpress. Many are in the Electrical appliances and equipment category with the risk level high and serious.

Please visit the OPSS alerts site if you use AliExpress and check that you or friends and family do not have any of these items that are now being removed from the marketplace.
