Very sadly, it has come to our attention that there are positive cases of Covid19 in Smarden. Our thoughts and best wishes are with those and their families at this challenging time.

This serves as a timely reminder for everyone to follow the Government guidelines regarding masks and social distancing to protect our families, friends and neighbours. Self-isolation means – don’t go to work, don’t go shopping, don’t go out for exercise. If this causes difficulties for you or your family, please let the Parish Council know and we will do what we can to assist you.

If you have been told to self-isolate and are unable to work from home you may be eligible for a one-off payment to help financially. If you are employed or self-employed, will be losing pay during your isolation period and are claiming one of the following benefits you might be eligible: - Universal Credit, Working Tax Credit, Income-based Employment and Support Allowance, Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, Income Support, Housing Benefit and/or Pension Credit. If you fit all the criteria listed above but you are NOT in receipt of one of the qualifying benefits, you may be eligible for the Test & Trace Discretionary Payment Scheme.
