Bovey Tracey men’s team visited Belgrave Club, Torquay on a miserable evening for a Mid Devon League match. The players did their best despite the conditions and it was Bovey who recorded the overall win by 10 points to 4.
In the Men’s Over 55s X Division, Bovey were playing at division-leaders Starcross where a late start enabled the match to go ahead after the rain subsided. Bovey put up an excellent showing to win by 31 shots to 28 overall, gaining 6 points to Starcross’ 2 and moving them up to one point behind the leaders.
The Bovey Y Division team (pictured above) were at home to Newton Abbot and finally achieved the resounding victory their performances have promised, winning by 45 shots to 19 and taking all eight match points.
Bovey’s ladies travelled to Paignton in the South Devon League where another match played in very wet conditions resulted in the home team winning by two rinks to one and earning 8 points to Bovey’s 2.
The ladies did much better in the Interclub County Competition against Bitton Park played at Abbrook Park and in wet conditions once again, winning by 37 shots to 34 overall.
In the County Men’s Triples, Keith Lockett, Tyler Smith and Les Hignett lost unluckily to Tony, Paul and Peter from Marina by 15 shots to 20 where the main talking point was a swing of eleven shots on one end against Bovey from a fluke wick off an outlying wood.
Bovey welcomed Paignton Torbay for a mixed triples friendly and in a closely fought match, Bovey won on three rinks with the other drawn with the winning margin being just five shots.
