17 new Rail Trail walks by app

Our Darent Valley team have created a brand-new selection of self-guided walks, all of which are easily accessible on your smart phone.

The Darent Valley Trail app is free to download, and all the walks can be followed offline, so you don't need to worry about 4g! And best of all, each walk starts and finishes at a mainline North Kent train station so you can reduce your carbon foot print and leave the car at home.

Find out more about the app and Rail Trails, including our five recommended walks for summer, in our latest blog post.

Places to visit in the Kent Downs

Looking for inspiration for your next adventure in the Downs? Look no further! Here's our top spot to visit this June...

Ranscombe Farm Reserve

Ranscombe Farm Reserve is situated on the stunning Kent Downs and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). It is managed by Plantlife, the UK’s leading wildflower conservation charity. This 560-acre reserve has 10km of footpaths to explore across ancient farmland, pockets of chalk grassland and coppice woods with stunning views across the Medway Gap and Luddesdown valley.

The site is famous for its extremely unusual collection of rare wild plants, especially arable wildflowers and orchids. There are several varieties of wild poppies that form rich red carpets along the edges of the farm’s wheat fields in June. The woodlands are now being managed for conservation and have good populations of dormice, birds, large mammals, butterflies and insects. There are free guided walks available throughout the year and opportunities to volunteer on the site.
