This afternoon at Malshanger, Oakley took on Alton Social in the National Top Club Competition. Over the last few seasons Social has been Oakley's nemisis in these events so initially expectations were not great. Oakley, however, had a morale boosting start when Nicole Rogers recorded an outstanding singles win over the 2012 County Singles Champion Hazel Marke. With the Oakley triple skipped by Ruth Bown also storming to a large lead Oakley were in a commanding position and Social decided to concede the game with around 5 ends left on each of the other events. Oakley Scores: Nicole Rogers 21-4; Sandra Lee and Val Ryan 14-16 (after 17 ends); Mary Varndell, Sue Dixon and Ruth Bown 21-3 (after 15 ends); Christine Williams, Coral Wearn, Angie Rowe and Kay Kerley 12-21 (after 16 ends). This win takes Oakley into the Hampshire semi-final where they will play Cove or Headley.
