This morning, at Malshanger, Oakley Ladies were attempting to make progress in the National Ladies' Top Club competition by beating local rivals Basingstoke Town and so emulate the Men who had on Thursday won against the Town in the equivalent Men's event. The Ladies' event differs from the men's in that there is no 2 wood singles discipline and, as on Thursday, it was the Town that picked up the first point when, in the Singles, Caz Harris defeated Nicole Rogers, who, in the absence of club champion Camilla Kingshott, was making her debut in the competition. At this stage, however, the Oakley Triples, Pairs and Fours were all winning, the latter two by big margins and a 3-1 victory looked likely. In the event the Triples went down to a last end one shot defeat but sizeable wins for the Pairs and Fours ensured that although the disciplines were shared 2-2, Oakley won comfortably on the aggregate by 29 shots.

Oakley Scores: Nicole Rogers lost 9-21, Angie Rowe and Janie Vickers won 34-7, Sue Dixon, Val Ryan and Ruth Bown lost 12-13, M Varndell, Sandra Lee, June Harvie and Kay Kerley won 26-11
