STANTON LACY PARISH COUNCIL

17th December 2021

Dear Parishioner,

May I first wish you seasons greeting from the Parish Council for the coming festivities, especially after the last two years, and thank all of those who have helped neighbours to cope with what for some has been a very unpleasant experience.

Stanton Lacy Parish Council has two vacancies and would like to hear from anyone interested in becoming a Councillor and making a difference to their community. There are usually 6 meetings a year, with occasional extraordinary meetings, and they last for about 2 hours. They are held on Thursday evenings every other month, in Stanton Lacy Village Hall. Agendas and minutes for previous meetings are on the website stantonlacyparish.org, if you wish to see some of the issues discussed by the Council. If you are interested in becoming a Councillor, please contact me - details at the foot of the page.

Shropshire Unitary Authority are carrying out a Community Governance Review. A Community Governance Review is the process used to consider whether existing parish arrangements should be changed in any way, including: -

  • the creation of a Parish.
  • the name of a Parish.
  • the alteration of boundaries of existing Parishes.
  • the abolition of a Parish.
  • the dissolution of a Parish Council.
  • changes to the electoral arrangements of a Parish Council.
  • whether a Parish should be grouped under a common Parish Council or de-grouped.

Stanton Lacy Parish Council is beginning to consider its boundaries and whether there are anomalies created by ancient boundaries that no longer make sense. I have enclosed a map of the Parish and its neighbouring Parishes, for you to consider. This process will take some time and no decisions are imminent, but if you would like to comment on the boundaries, please let me know or you can attend a Parish Council meeting where ‘Parish Boundaries’ or ‘Community Governance’ is on the agenda. You can check agendas for upcoming meetings on the website.

If you wish to see the parish map you can use the link on the 'Shropshire County Maps' tab on this website.

Yours sincerely

Heather Coonick
