One of the hardy perennials of our landscape, irrespective of the season is the abundant supply of litter donated by our fellow citizens. Our village volunteer team routinely parade along the highways and byways of the village constantly removing the detritus.

It appears the problem will never end. Our disposable society breeds contempt. Much easier to chuck rubbish out of the car window than put it in a bin or take it home and chuck in your wheelie bin. Ironically if the tossers did follow common decency they would be able to segregate the litter into the blue wheelie. A task that is beyond the pale to expect the volunteer team to shift through the collection. Yet about 70% is estimated as being recyclable.

Behold last Saturdays catch shown above. You will note the routine collection of nitrous oxide gas cylinders discharged after their toxic contents has been hoovered into the addicts lungs by way of little party balloons. The toxic effect of the gas allows the addict to enjoy a few moments of elation - even whilst driving home incapacitated causing horrific and many fatal road accidents. Once home the effects can wear off at their leisure leaving them to ponder how long before their bladder is destroyed, or their sight becomes permanently impaired. Still we must also wonder who actually peddles the stuff, and are these cylinders are being marketed in the pastel shades seen in the photos to offset their potentially lethal content.
