It is about this time of year the verges and hedges around Smarden are cut and ditches cleared which usually reveals previously hidden quantities of litter.

Litter picking is surprisingly rewarding so please assist the Litter Team by checking around your own property. We can all make a difference by adopting an area and committing to check it on a regular basis.

Make it a habit of taking bags with you when out for a walk and pick up litter as you go.

I would like to thank all members of the Litter Team for your time throughout the year and to all those public‑spirited residents who pick up litter when they see it.

If anyone would like rubbish sacks please contact me on 770446 or jomorton551@btinternet.com

For fly‑tipping please either contact me jomorton551@btinternet.com or “Report It” online at https://www.ashford.gov.uk/report/report-flytip/; tel 01233 331111;

email streetscene@ashford.gov.uk

To arrange for sacks of litter and items to be picked up from the roadside please email streetscene@ashford.gov.uk
