Long Ashton's Bohemian Rhapsody
On Sunday, 12th July a happy coach full of Long Ashton Bowling Club players and supporters headed to Reading for a mixed friendly match against the Isle of Bohemians Bowls Club (IBC), uniquely located on a small island in the middle of the River Thames.
On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by IBC members, who ferried us across to the island clubhouse – a great experience that brought plenty of fun and laughter!
Safely ashore, the afternoon featured a friendly but competitive match, with six rinks of fours played in very hot conditions. After some excellent bowling, Long Ashton came away with a well-earned victory.
Before our journey home, we were treated to a delicious two-course meal, providing the perfect end to a memorable day.
A huge thank you to everyone at Isle of Bohemians Bowls Club for their warm hospitality and for hosting us in such a unique and beautiful setting. We thoroughly enjoyed an excellent day out and look forward to meeting again in the future!
