Marathon Day

Our second Marathon Day took place on Tuesday 30th June and once again proved a great success. The brainchild of Rob French, the idea is for bowls to be played continuously on the green from 8am to 8pm with payment made per hour of playing and drinks and food available throughout the day.

The morning began at 8am with our two County Badged players, Janet Henderson and Shirley Parker (see photograph), playing the first end to be followed by a regular cast of members, relatives, friends, sponsors and members from other clubs, some of them bowling for the first time. Liz French ran the kitchen to supply bacon rolls, pasties, pizza and cakes throughout.

A long day of bowling finally ended at 8pm with several hundred pounds being raised which will be split between club funds and a local charity
