REMINDERS OF UPCOMING EVENTS

April 3rd at 7pm - Members are invited to attend a meeting where the etiquette for the game of bowls will be explained by Martin Speakman. Paul Kelly will explain the basic rules of the game and Richard Manning is going to inform us about the proposed modifications to the building. All of the speakers will be available to answer any questions you may have.

The Opening of the Green will take place on Saturday 15th April at 2pm and the club members’ photo for 2017 will be taken at around 2.30pm. The President will then declare the Green Open and he will deliver the first bowl. Members may Roll Up after this and there will be a "bring and share" afternoon tea later. Please note that members should wear whites i.e. the new club shirt or white shirt, and white trousers, (ladies may wear white skirts).

The Club Open Day will take place on Sunday 21st May. Doors open at 11am and we will be attending until about 4pm. The purpose of this day is to recruit new members, whether they are experienced or new to bowling. It is hoped that members will help on the day. We intend running a second Open Day on Sunday 2nd July.

Name Badges The order for the name badges will be sent in on April 3rd so please get your order in as soon as possible.

Practice Days Your Team Captains ask all members who wish to take part in League and Friendly matches to attend the Practice Games. Men 22nd April 2.30pm - Ladies 4th May 2.30pm.

Please don't forget to return your Re-registration Form and Competition Form by May 1st. Members not doing so will be excluded from Competitions and not be selected for matches until they have paid their membership subscription.

NEWS ITEMS

We have had complaints from several members that they cannot read parts of the Fixture Booklet because the print is very small. We have arranged to print some A4 sheets of the season’s fixtures. These should be available by the 15th April and will be left behind the bar if you would like one.

Details have been displayed on a poster of a proposed Bowls Tour to Torquay next April 2018. Full details are on the poster so please put your name on the list if you would like to take part.

Some members have informed us that they would like to continue to play on the Indoor Rink during the summer. If you would like us to arrange one or more roll ups please get in touch with John Cherry.

The Rules for the Club competitions that will take place this summer have been posted on the notice board. We recommend that all those taking part read the details thoroughly as they have been substantially amended.

Please note Competition entries must be in by 6pm on 1st May. Entries received after this date will not be accepted. The draw for all the competitions will be held in the club room on Friday 5th May starting at 7.30pm.

We have placed an order with Dales to carry out some work on the Indoor carpet and this is advance notice that the rink will be closed all day on 24th August 2017.
