Mary Dendy Playing Field - Open to all
As the evenings begin to draw in and temperatures start to drop it's often tempting to turn our attention to those indoor activities which have been 'on pause' during the summer months. It is, however, important that, whilst striving to keep warm over the winter months, we all keep active.
There are many grass sports pitches within Cheshire East that are available for public use. You can choose from football, rugby, cricket or lacrosse or, if you have something else in mind, give Cheshire East Council a call and they'll try to accommodate your requirements. (Contact: 0300 123 5500 or email Sports@Ansa.co.uk) If tennis, bowling or basketball is more appealing there are facilities in several Cheshire East parks.
Residents of Great Warford are extremely lucky that one of these public sports pitches, the Mary Dendy Playing Field, lies on the door step. Whilst providing grass sports pitches to all residents of Cheshire East and beyond it is also available to everyone for walking (with or without a dog!), informal play/sports, meeting people or just to enjoy the great outdoors and fresh air.
Over recent months, the Parish Council has been made aware that unauthorised signage has been repeatedly displayed at the Mary Dendy Playing Field discouraging use of the site by those who do not live in Great Warford. Cheshire East Council is also aware of the unauthorised signage and are taking steps to address these unfortunate actions.
Great Warford Parish Council and Cheshire East Council would like to reiterate that the Mary Dendy Playing Field is open and available to use by EVERYONE (not just residents of Great Warford).
