We have been trying to get to the bottom of why the two meadows are no longer cut back. We tracked down the owner and their UK agent in charge of promoting the land but, despite the fire risk, neither are being helpful.

So, we wrote to Essex Fire and we've received this response.

"I can see you have explored all possibilities and beyond to resolve the concern raised by the Residents Association. Unfortunately, we have no legal powers to support your findings. The only offer I can make is to back up your concerns in writing to the landowner as you have identified below, if you could supply the address details / copy of the last letter I can do that. In addition, I will identify the risk to the local fire stations, so they will be aware".
