The Chair of C.A.N.S. met with Michael Lane, The Police and Crimes Commissioner for Hampshire on Monday 23rd July 2018. Also present was Inspector Andy Tester of the Joint Road Policing Unit for Hampshire and Thames Valley. An hour long meeting was held where there was a useful discussion about C.A.N.S. involvement in future plans/solutions for the A32/A272 noise and speed problems, with a particular emphasis in improving road safety and reducing the higher than county average killed and seriously injured rates that are found on the roads in the area of the Meon Valley and East hampshire. A short video was presented showing examples of the dangerous, reckless intimidating riding demonstrated by bikers along these rural A roads. It was suggested that CANS should develop their plans and present their solutions. We plan to do this and then in conjunction HCC seek ways of implementing these plans.
