Battle Town Council has completed this year's memorial/headstone inspection at Battle Cemetery and St Mary's Churchyard. This inspection is required to ensure all memorials are fixed securely.

The Council will attempt to notify the burial grant holders, at their last known address, where memorials have been laid down.

Any repairs to memorials must be completed by a registered stonemason and visitors to the cemetery are asked NOT to try and refit any memorial that has been laid down. Anyone arranging for a memorial repair or reinstatement is asked to notify the Council office. A further inspection will be made following any reinstallation. For more information please see the cemetery pages of the battle town council website at www.battletowncouncil.gov.uk.

Any prohibited items on memorials, such as glass vases, which have been removed have been safely stored at the cemetery and are available to collect on request to the office. Any broken glass has been disposed of for safety reasons.

Anyone who has a concern regarding the inspection process or who needs to contact the Council regarding a memorial that has been laid down is invited to contact the office on (01424) 772210 or email enquiries@battletowncouncil.gov.uk. Please note office hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 2pm
