Memorial Stone installed in Jubilee Fields
MEMORIAL STONE
The Memorial Stone has now been installed at Glebe Close and a short dedication service took place on 22nd January, a crisp sunny winter morning, led by the Rev. Gillian Roberts. The stone commemorates all those Stockton people who have fought in the armed services during World War I and since.
This project has been partly funded by grants from Warwickshire Rural Housing Association who are managing the houses on Jubilee Field, and Stonewater (formerly Jephson Housing) who were responsible for the construction of these houses.
There has been a tremendous voluntary support from local businesses and the Parish Council would like to say a great big “Thank You” to these. Barry Tuckey transported the stone from the supplier at Long Marston, Noralle Country Homes (Matt & Tim Sharples, Rob Wilkes and their men) did the excavation and Mark Tuckey lifted the stone into place. Rick Mingins has cleaned up the grassed area and will complete the landscaping work in the spring. Help with the concept of the memorial, the organisation of the service and links to the British Legion came from Malcolm Thomas and Bob Stevens.
