In unpleasant wet conditions, Oakley's men travelled this evening to take on Yateley in the County Club Championship. The first end saw Oakley drop 7 shots over the 4 rinks but by end 5 Oakley had crept into a 1 shot lead. A surge over the next 5 ends saw that lead increased to 23 shots. A brief rally by Yateley followed but Oakley maintained their lead and eventually triumphed by 96 shots to 60. Oakley scores: Malcolm Grime, John Wilson, Trevor Wearn and Fred Norris won 21-15, Terry Heath, Peter Bown,Stan Mond and Spencer Kerley won 23-13, Martin Smith, Duncan Wilkins, Ric Newson and Bob Goodyear lost 20-22, Keith Turnbull, Brian Nethercliffe, Sean Lassman and Ted Brown won 32-10. In the next round Oakley will be away to Cove.
