MEN WIN IN HANTS & BERKS CUP

On Friday evening Oakley Men travelled to Thonycrofts BC for the first game in this year's Hants and Berks Cup. Against a team sruggling in Division 2 Oakley were strong favourites and with the rinks of Ted Brown and Spencer Kerley storming out of the blocks Oakley led at 5 ends by 14 shots and a big win looked likely. To their credit, however, Thornys kept plugging away and by 15 ends Oakley's lead had increased by only 4 shots and the game was still in the balance. Thornys though were not able to tip the balance in their favour and Oakley eventually won by 72 to 47.

Oakley Scores: Malcolm Grime, Duncan Wilkins,Trevor Wearn and Ted Brown won 18-14, Martin Smith, Keith Turnbull, Bob Goodyear and Fred Norris won 23-22, Ric Newson, Sean Lassman, Stan Mond and Spencer Kerley won 31-11
