The community will be well aware of the issues we had last year around Hamble Quay. On the warmer days of the year (of which there were many) we saw generally poor behaviour by a small minority of people misusing the area and generally acting in an anti –social manner. This has the effect of making the area less friendly for the wider community. This weekend is forecast to be warm, and no doubt there will be an increase in footfall in the Hamble area.

In order to try and prevent a repeat of our previous issues and increase our ability to deal with problems should we receive calls, we have put in place 2 dispersal orders under section 34 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. Both of the orders apply within the attached map with the first in place for Friday 19th April and Saturday 20th April. The second authorisation is in place for Sunday 21st April and Monday 22nd April.

The order allows our staff to disperse individuals within the zone if someone’s behaviour is causing or likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress, or crime, or disorder in any public place within the zone. This measure is a discretionary power for patrolling staff, and is deigned to be a deterrent to those using the area in an inappropriate way.

Our team will be on duty over the Easter weekend – come and say hello if you see us out and about, and don’t hesitate to report any ASB or crime issues to us on 101.
