Yesterday Nicole Rogers and Terry Heath recommenced their Whitchurch Singles Final which had been abandoned, because of heavy rain, with Terry leading 16-11. The break undoubtedly helped Nicole more than Terry ,s on the resumption, she settled more quickly and eventually, in a tightly fought game it was Nicole who won by 21-20. Today Nicole changed her sights to a different target as she travelled up on the train to Leamington Spa to compete in the National Two Wood Singles Championship. Having landed the National Indoor Title earlier in the year her Hampshire supporters hoped the double might be on the cards but Nicole found herself up against a formidable opponent in Bernie Hall from Lancashire who had qualified for the Nationals in 4 events and who soon swept into a 5 -1 lead. Nicole fought back to momentarily lead 7-6 but her opponent was generally more successful on the longer jacks, where Nicole today was inconsistent, and finally after 20 ends Nicole went down to a 17-12 defeat. Nicole returns to Leamington on Saturday when, with Heather Statham, she competes in the Junior Pairs. Good Luck to our players.
