Last night I had the honour of presenting the National Association of Local Councils 'Council Worker of the Year Award'. HugoFox is pleased to be sponsoring this award. HugoFox is built around the idea of supporting communities and helping them develop an online presence. We help empower community groups, such as non-profit making organisations, sports clubs and societies. Parish councils are an important part of any community which is why we are proud to offer parishes the help to get them online and connect, all free of charge.

A community isn't just a name; it's the people involved and the people who work so hard to make a difference in those communities. I have met so many of these people tonight. Their passion for their communities is the reason communities work. This is why we sponsored The Council worker of the year award.

It was with great pleasure that I got to present this award. Our runners up were:

Nigel Saunders, Ditton Parish Council, Kent
Frances Lawerence, Hermitage Parish Council, Berkshire

The award was won by Allan Moffat of Bracknell Town Council, Berkshire.

Alan is the recreational facilities manager of Bracknell, a large town council responsible for 250 acres of public recreational and leisure space, 34 parks and children's play areas.

Allan caught the attention of the judges because of the vital and succesful role he plays in managing these responsibilities, and ensuring the town council achieves excellence in services provided or which many are nationally recognised as being provided to the highest standard.

Perhaps more importantly, in a recent residents survey carried out by the principal authority (Bracknell Forest), Bracknell's parks and open spaces also come out the most highly regarded services provided locally.

Overall the judges were blown away by Allan's dedication to ensuring that the services within his control are run and managed to exceptional Standards for the Benefit of his community, and so were we!
