National Lottery Grant
Basingstoke NeighbourCare Awarded £19,500 National Lottery Community Fund Grant
We are delighted to announce that Basingstoke NeighbourCare has been awarded a grant of £19,500 from the National Lottery Community Fund, money raised by National Lottery players for good causes. A huge thank you to National Lottery players from all of us at NeighbourCare.
This grant will enable NeighbourCare to reach more older people across Basingstoke, Tadley, and the surrounding villages, supporting them with an enhanced quality of life and enabling them to remain in their own homes for longer.
Geoffrey Belsham, Chair of Basingstoke NeighbourCare, said: "Thanks to the National Lottery Community Fund, we can directly support more people across Basingstoke and build a stronger, more connected community. Loneliness and isolation are growing issues, and we aim to make a real difference."
What the funding will support
Since 1997, our volunteers have helped older residents stay independent and connected through:
Accompanied transport - volunteer drivers taking clients to medical appointments, shopping, and social activities
Befriending - regular visits and phone calls for people who are lonely or isolated
Community Cafés - weekly drop-in social sessions in Basingstoke and Tadley
Gardening and handyperson services - practical help so people can stay safe and comfortable at home
This funding helps us keep all of these services free or low-cost for the people who need them most.
