National Rail Site Works Due to Recommence - Routing Along Church Lane
Phase 2 of National Rail works along the rail embankment are due to recommence on 21 September 2026, with deliveries expected to resume from 18 September 2026.
Following comments from residents and ongoing discussions with the Parish Council, National Rail has taken the steps outlined below to mitigate any issues and disruption. However, please keep the Parish Council informed of any issues via the form below, or by emailing clerk@newington-pc.gov.uk.

We have taken the following actions.

Signage will be mounted close to Church Road/ junction with the High Street.

Further discussion has been held with material supplier expressing concerns and reinforcing expectations.

We have told our delivery partner to contact the aggregate supplier to reinforce the importance of having consideration whist driving through the community, making sure that they stay within the speed limits and avoid mounting any footpaths. We have also requested our procurement desk contact the suppliers to reinforce the message.

The site has contacted the nearby construction site and discussed the raised complaints, aligning a joint approach to make sure that deliveries are respectfully undertaken.

As deliveries have been made to site individual briefings have taken place with HGV operators. Covering the concerns raised.

A delivery plan is in place with the aggregate supplier making sure that a low volume of delivery vehicles is deployed to avoid standing lorries within St Marys View.
