New Children’s Playpark for North Baddesley!

On a beautiful sunny afternoon on Tuesday 8th May, children from the nearby Junior School’s “School Council” officially opened Castle Activity Park, the new children’s playpark at the Recreation Ground, North Baddesley.

Wicksteed Playgrounds has designed and installed some fantastic products for the park which has been funded by North Baddesley Parish Council, mainly from developer contributions.

The £120,000 play area, which is part of a wider project to extend sports facilities and the pavilion at the site, caters for all ages and abilities with new modern equipment and grass matting safety surfacing throughout. A Teen Zone in the park has been designed to provide a more challenging and exciting play experience for young teens. Wicksteed’s innovative Matrix K5 agility system, proudly sporting the name of the playpark, offers the ultimate climbing experience for agile and daring teenagers who are willing to stretch and strengthen their physical capabilities. Other equipment suited to older children includes the popular and exhilarating Cableway, a 4m high Pirate’s Lair Netscape unit, a Crusader rope swing and a Zig Zag Twister roundabout.

A separate fenced toddler zone provides natural play opportunities with landscaped grassed mounds as well as a double width embankment slide, a unique Rock ‘n’ Bowl dual-axis roundabout and not forgetting the Freddie Frog and Ronnie Rabbit springies. A basket seat swing has been added which is ideally suited to children who are less able bodied.

North Baddesley Parish Council was impressed with Wicksteed’s efficient and professional handling of the works which were completed ahead of schedule, despite the bad weather.

To round off the afternoon, Wicksteed presented all of the children who attended the opening from both the Junior and Infant schools with a goody bag each.
