Northumberland County Council have started work on a new Local Plan and a new Housing Design Standards Supplementary Plan.

Our Local Plan and Neighbourhood Plans form part of the statutory development plan for Northumberland. They set the rules for where and how new development can happen.

Local Plan Scoping Consultation

NCCis at the early stages of preparing a new Local Plan. They are inviting views on the key issues and priorities it should address, and what it should contain. Feedback at this stage will help shape the Plan’s focus and direction from the start.

The Local Plan will explain how the county should grow and change in the future. It will set out how we will meet housing needs. It will also need to address other important economic, social, and environmental issues.

NCC are also asking how we should engage with communities and stakeholders as we prepare the plan.
