Discover the history and heritage of the village from pre-Roman to the modern day through talks, exhibitions, displays and chats with local history specialists at a free event on Sunday, September 6 (2pm-4.30pm) in Newington Village Hall ME9 7JJ.
This is an excellent way to find out about Newington, especially if you've recently moved to the area.
The event is organised by Newington History Group and there's free refreshments, with parking at the hall (free) and in Callaways Lane.
The group holds monthly public talks (except Jan and Aug) at 7.30pm on the fourth Thursday in the hall. Oct 22: Tracing the Lives of Newington's Fallen (Dean Coles), Nov 26: Monks Behaving Badly (Steve O'Hanlon). Visitors £4 at door, inc. free refreshments. Membership is available £18pa.
