We've had a busy week with club friendly games and the several matches played in the opening rounds of national competitions.
The week didn't get off to the best start. On Tuesday, Kevin and John U were narrowly beaten in their Foundation Pairs match and on Wednesday the club was well beaten by the Bucks VPs with Tula, Brenda and Ian recording our best result.
Our luck changed on Thursday when Tricia and Martin won their opening round match in the Foundation Pairs but it was a close run thing and they needed to win a tie-break to secure victory. Our good form continued on Saturday with John B staging a dramatic comeback to secure victory in his Men's Champion of Champions opening round. John then travelled to Bradwell to help the club secure our first away win of the season by 129-83. Congratulations to Craig, who played in his first game for the club and to Sue, Steph and Steve who were our best performing rink on the day.

On Sunday, we hosted Wing in a club friendly and notched up a 77-53 victory, with Gill W, Steph and Colin recording our best performance of the day.

Fixtures

It is back to normal for the roll-ups this week with sessions planned on Monday Afternoon, Wednesday Afternoon and Thursday Evening, just turn up if you want to play. The draw for our internal competitions will be held after Monday's roll-up. Also on Monday, Steph will be returning to Bradwell to play her opening game in the Ladies' Champion of Champions. We wish her the very best of luck in this game.
On Friday, we have one of the most eagerly anticipated dates of the season with the Friday Night Triples tournament starting. This competition will run throughout the summer and the atmosphere of fierce but friendly competition will be felt in many member's households.

There are no friendly matches scheduled for this weekend because we will be holding our Open Day on Saturday and we are hosting our Invitation Mixed Pairs Tournament on Sunday. Please come down to the Open Day with your bowls so we can have players on the green and show what a friendly club we are. We also need a selection of bowls for our visitors to use. The day starts at 11am and there will be tea and biscuits.
