Our main focus since the later part of the year has been the 2025/2026 budget.

This was agreed and voted through by full council at January’s meeting.

We have had to take into consideration the rising costs and responsibilities that face us next year.

We have also now had an estimated cost of bin emptying across the village which we will now determine how many and at what annual cost this will involve. As Somerset council will still be responsible for bins on their land, we will bare the cost of the remainder from April onwards.

This has been accounted for in the budget.

The areas of Moss on pathways have been a cause for concern and we will be contacting Highways, however, if there is overhanging hedges/trees etc, this will invariably exasperate the issue.

Moss will grow on the paths that are shielded from sunlight and remain damp, also from poor drainage, cracks etc.

In relation to street furniture, there are areas which may be used to place memorial benches.

Eg; queens road playing field, an empty concrete base already in place.

If this or becoming a councillor (we have a vacancy) or even a volunteer is of interest to you,

then please email the Clerk.

The next meeting will be Tuesday 4th February at 7pm Village Hall. All welcome.
