A new year for Evercreech Parish Council and I am pleased to have accepted the role of Chair for another year along with Cllr Gail Wakeford as Vice chair.

It’s been a challenging year with Somerset County Council devolving some of its services to the Town and Parish councils. And unfortunately, we are not immune to the rising costs that this incurs.

However, we did arrive at a balanced budget and recently received a favourable audit. Thanks go to our Clerk and RFO (responsible Finance Officer) for their diligence in all parish administrative matters.

It’s been a good start of the year for the Youth Club now operating from their new premises on Queens Road Playing field and due to the recent Picnic in the Park event for VE day, we were able to raise much needed funds.

The VE celebration was thanks to some very generous individuals and local businesses such as 3Solutions, The Village Hall, The Youth Club, The WI and the Co-op

Raffle Prizes were donated by so many organisations in the Village. Music of the 40’s from Meredith Foster and The Grey Dogs, and a welcome visit from the Vice-Lord lieutenant of Somerset Mt Ted Allen. A fun day all round despite the weather.

There is still the opportunity to join the Parish Council as we have the vacancy awaiting to be filled. All enquiries to

clerk@evercreech-pc.gov.uk

Our next full council meeting will be Tuesday 3rd of June at 7pm in the Village Hall
