Iford Bridge are a very friendly club and made us very welcome.  The green had been watered before our arrival and to say the least was found to be very quirky and difficult by a number of players, including Iford Bridge.

Rink 1 - Graham Trotter

A good even start leading 8-6 on the 9th  before it started to go downhill. Giving away 3 shots on the 19th . A brave fight back bringing the score 12-12 on 15th end. Then disaster struck giving away 5 on the 17th end.

Lead Dave Deller, 2 Brian Morrell and Skip Graham Trotter

Lost 18-13

Rink 2 – Richard Wilcox

After gaining one shot on the first it went downhill even with 3 shots gained on the 8th the team were still down by two shots. Iford capitalised and by the 13th  were 11-7 up.  Giving away 4 shots on the 14th sealed the fate of this match which finished ahead of the three other rinks.

Lead Jim McIntosh, 2 Alan Barnes and Skip Richard Wilcox

Lost 17-9

Rink 3 Jeff Sheppard

This match started like a steam train gaining 3 shots on the first but then gave away 2 shots on the 2nd and 3rd to be 4-3 down.  A quick response gained 4 shots on the 4th , 2 on the 7th and 3 on the 8th . Despite giving away 3 on the 11th 3 shots were taken back on the 12th, 3 on the 13th  and 2 on the 14th. Braeside were now in control leading 21 – 11. Giving away 3 on the last was crucial to the overall match.

Lead Barrie Vincent, 2 Chris Grace and Skip Jeff Sheppard

Won 22-16 TOP RINK

Rink 4 – Captain Alan Hart

A progressive start being 4 up after 4 ends was not the start Iford Bridge wanted but they responded bringing the score to 7- 4 after the 11th end.  Braeside stuttered and gave away 5 shots between the 13th & 15th end to draw level at 9-9.  A concerted effort by the Captains side gained 3 shots on the 16th and 2 shots on the 18th to win the match 14-10.  Well done.

Lead Nick Heath, 2 Peter Edwards and Skip Alan Hart

Won 14-10

Iford Bridge A 61 shots - 6 Points            Braeside A 58 Shots and 2 points

The Captain appeared to be relatively happy with this close match and stated that it was not all bad news.
