Congratulations to Nicole Rogers who, this morning, at a rain sodden Leamington bowled exceptionally well to overcome Lorraine Hackett of Devon to move into the quarter-final of the National Champion of Champions. That was an excellent result against the experienced Devon player but in the afternoon she needed to move up a gear if she was to have any hope of success against England skip and the reigning National Champion of Champion Rebecca Wigfield of Northamptonshire. The early stages were close with Nicole establishing small leads only for Rebecca to peg her back but, at 8-6 up, Nicole picked up a full house to move into a 12-6 lead. Rebecca, however, hung in there and closed to 14-10 before Nicole moved away to a 19-14 lead. Hampshire supporters now dared to hope. On the next end Nicole nailed the jack and when Rebecca unfortunately knocked up another Nicole bowl victory belonged to Nicole. Congratulations to Nicole from all at the Club and good luck tomorrow when she plays the redoubtable Ellen Faulkner
