This month marks ten years since the formation of the Northumberland Clerks Network, a peer-support and training group established under the NALC umbrella.

Since its creation, the network has provided regular workshops, mentoring, and resources for parish and town clerks across the county, ensuring that councils of every size benefit from shared expertise and support.

At the anniversary gathering in Alnwick, more than 40 clerks shared experiences and reflected on how the role has evolved. Topics included the shift to digital meetings, financial transparency, and managing public engagement.

Network coordinator Linda Watson said:

“The Clerks Network has created a genuine sense of teamwork across Northumberland’s local councils. It’s a space where we learn, laugh, and lift each other up.”

NALC congratulated the group and confirmed continued support through future training and networking opportunities.
