Notes of Parish Council Meeting 10 October
.WE had received three requests for information through the website this month, which had all been responded to promptly.
.The review of our agenda and suggestions relating to a Strategic Development Plan were deferred to the next meeting because several key members were unable to be present.
.Recreation Ground; It was reported that the toilet was in need of cleaning and this was planned for urgent attention AS.
.Allotments; in our recent annual visit we had seen the allotments and agreed this year’s prize-winners for best kept allotments.
.Town Hall; the painting of the new windows is now nearly completed. The planning application for air conditioning is in process and necessary drawings have been submitted to DCC.
.Market Place; we agreed to a Xmas Market on Friday 10th November, from 5 to 8 pm. Xmas Tree and lights should be in place for then. For the Remembrance Service on 12th November we will aim to have some chairs available outside, for those who need them. For both events, please use parking at Demesne Mill or Recreation ground.
.Thornley Wood; the car park is now completed, and a further 460 saplings will be planted this autumn by Durham Wildlife Trust to complete the scheme. The footpath from Thornley Wood to Wolsingham is in need of some improvement work which will be undertaken by Wolsingham Wayfarers.
.Our website needs updating and improving; when this is completed the front picture will be changed to a summer view of Wolsingham.
.It was reported that Melbourne Place green will be refreshed by DCC, including a new seat and flower tubs, in response to residents’ request.
