Use of Electric Bikes and Scooters on Parish Council Land

The Parish Council wishes to make it unequivocally clear that the use of electric bikes (e-bikes) and electric scooters (e-scooters) is strictly prohibited on all land owned or managed by the Council, including the Recreation Ground.

This decision follows repeated incidents of damage to Council property and growing concerns regarding public safety. The Recreation Ground is a shared community space, used extensively by families and school children, and the presence of electrically powered vehicles presents an unacceptable risk of collision and injury.

The Council also reminds residents that, while compliant e-bikes may be used lawfully on public highways and designated routes, the use of privately owned e-scooters is generally not permitted on public land. In any event, neither e-bikes nor e-scooters are permitted on Parish Council land.

The Council has a duty of care to all users of its facilities and will not tolerate behaviour that puts others at risk or causes damage to community assets. Any individuals found using electric bikes or scooters on Council land will be asked to leave immediately and could be subject to further action where appropriate, including a ban from accessing and using the Recreation Ground.

We ask all residents and visitors to respect this restriction and help us keep our public spaces safe and enjoyable for everyone.
