Notice to Residents: Damage and Vandalism of playground equipment at Swinton Village Playground
Dear Villagers,
We regret to inform residents that further damage has occurred in the village play area. A piece of gym equipment has been damaged and now poses a hazard to children. This follows the earlier incident involving the zip wire, which was broken by an adult despite clear signage stating it is for ages 15 and under.
We are also particularly troubled to find deliberate vandalism in the playground, including offensive graffiti that could be distressing for children who use the space.
Actions being taken:
• All damaged equipment has been logged and assessed.
• We are sourcing replacement parts; however, due to the high cost, the Parish is unable to fund these repairs alone. Alternative funding will be required so repairs will take time.
• Removing the graffiti will take considerable man hours, and we will also need to source the appropriate products to clean it off.
• We ask parents and carers to remind children of the importance of respecting public spaces and to remain vigilant when visiting the park.
• If you witness anyone intentionally damaging or misusing the equipment, please contact the police on 101, or 999 if a crime is in progress
• Thank you for your cooperation and continued support in caring for our community spaces.
