I am writing to inform you that Nottinghamshire’s Trading Standards Service will be running an electric mattress blanket testing event for Nottinghamshire residents on:

16th March 2026 – Worksop Library

The testing is free and if a blanket fails, the resident will be provided with a new blanket free of charge. Residents can book their slot by calling: 0115 8044555.

With high energy costs, many people are looking for cheaper ways to keep warm and, electric mattress blankets are a popular method used to stay cosy. To save money, consumers may also be looking for the availability of cheap versions of these products or use old electric blankets. These products may not meet current safety standards or may be damaged through poor storage or age. And, in the past few years, there have been incidents within Nottinghamshire where unsafe electric blankets have been the cause of serious fires and deaths.

We are trying to spread the message about the safety testing event as far and wide in the County as possible, and I would be grateful if you could let the residents within your area know about this event in any local publications, social media groups or at any local events. If you would like to receive hard copies of the attached leaflet or poster, please let me know and I will arrange for them to be sent to you.

If you have any queries about the above, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Many Thanks

Liz
