This morning Oakley Ladies travelled to Cove for their third game in the National Top Club. Forced to make six positional changes from the team that played in the previous round, it was always going to be a tough task against Cove's galaxy of Johns Trophy players. A slow start did not help. At 5 ends Mary Varndell led by 1 shot in the Singles and the Pairs were 2 up but the Triples and Fours were five and eight down respectively. Sadly Mary's lead proved short lived as she went down to an in-form Sarah Bowen and from then on Oakley realistically would win only if they won all the remaining disciplines. The team gave their all, in what turned out to be three closely fought disciplines but eventually Oakley had to settle for a 1-3 defeat

Oakley Scores: Mary Varndell lost 7-21, Camila Kingshott and Val Ryan won 20-19, Sue Dixon, Nicole Rogers and Ruth Bown lost 15-16, Christine Williams, Sandra Lee, June Harvie and Janie Vickers lost 17-21
