Autumn Plans

Unless rules to control the Corona virus prevents us, the club aims to keep playing weekend games for as long as the weather allows. Planned dates are:

October 4th, 10th, 18th and 24th

November 1st, 7th, 15th, 21st, 29th

If you want to play in any or all the above games, please send your name and the games you want to play to Derek Squire on maryderek@btinternet.com

From Sunday October 4th, post game drinks will be ordered before on a rink form. This will make the table service manageable.

A Game at Christmas?

It looks as if a family Christmas might be impossible this year. How about a game on Boxing Day, Saturday December 26th ? Fine weather forecast!

New Bowlers

We have welcomed the following members over the last few weeks: Malc and Tina Curtis, Martin Irisarri and Susan Hawkesworth.

General News

If any other club makes contact requesting a game for 2021 please pass the information on to Derek Squire or John Smith.
If any member has bowling related news then please pass this to Paul Lucas for the website and/or Facebook.

Departing Member

It is with sadness that we say goodbye to Tim Goodall who died in September. We have fond memories of Tim as club captain and as a willing contributor to the life of the club.

Tuesday Triples

This proved to be very popular. Congratulations to Tim, John, Marlene and Derek on winning the competition and to Rob and Derek for organising it. Unfortunately the new Corona virus rules have stymied the plans we had for an indoor tournament to keep the momentum going.

Card Reader

We have all become used to cashless payments by paying by card over the last few months. Handling cash does present potential dangers. The club has purchased a card reader and, as soon as we have figured out how to deploy the reader, it will be in use at the bar.

Trees

Work on the willow trees began and had to stop immediately because of wasps. The nest has now been cleared so October 19th is the new date.

Safety Barrier

Our thanks go to Ruby Robins and the team for the barrier by the new culvert.

Club Officers

We have been unable to meet as a whole club in the usual way so the proposal and confirmation of club officers has not been possible. The committee suggests that all officers remain in post until we are able to hold an appropriate meeting.

Lighting

We are pursuing the use of outdoor lighting for the green. We need to get this right so the first stage is to hold a "trial run" with one of the candidates.
