Open Fours Charity Donation
Monday the 13th November 2017 is a day to go down in history, we have photographic proof of Mr Len Chubb Esq giving away money. It was in fact the cheque for £700 raised from this years Open Fours to the Queen Alexandra Hospital Children's Outdoor Space. A delegation from the club presented the cheque on behalf of the members.
The hospital press release is as follows:
A Portsmouth bowls club has generously donated £700 to QA Hospital to help fund an outdoor play area for Children being treated within the Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust Children’s Department.
The club raised the funds through their 47th annual bowls tournament, which took place on August 13th 2017, as well as selling raffle tickets and refreshments to the 72 players who competed.
Bob Bloomfield, a Life Vice President of the Priory bowls club talked about why they chose to support the Children’s Department garden:
“Every year we choose a local cause close to our hearts, and have supported causes like The Rocky Appeal in the past. The Children’s Bubbles fund is close to my heart as my Great Grandson, Max, was born in QA over in December 2016 and is still in hospital in Southampton.
There are a lot of children, who, in their lifetimes will not be able to play bowls or other sports as we have been able to. So making an area accessible and comfortable for all of these children is really worthwhile.”
“We’re very pleased with the funds we have raised.” Said Life Vice President Len Chubb.
with the funds we have raised.” Said Life Vice President Len Chubb.
Victoria Greenshields, Fundraising Manager expressed her thanks: “This long-running campaign is on the verge of being brought to life, and the Priory Bowls Club has generously contributed to this vital project. We are very grateful for the support.”
The Children’s Bubbles fund resides within Portsmouth Hospitals Charity which aims to support the patients of Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust by improving existing facilities and by providing additional equipment, supporting research programmes and innovation in the development of services and education to both patients and staff.
The charity supports all of the wards and departments across the Trust and you can choose to support and fundraise for an area of the hospital that is close to your heart.
