Today was the first day of the new bowling season for 2026. What a wonderful day we had despite the very strong winds. President Trevor introduced Mr William Murray, who is a partner & director of Daedalus Development Company, co-founder of MurraryTwohig, who are developers, designers and advisors to some of the world's most iconic developments of recent decades, which includes the Shard, Battersea Power Station to name just a few, but also Daedalus Waterfront who have sponsored our new club shirts. After his speech describing the Development, he bowled the first woods of the season having been given a crash course in how to bowl by Kim. Kim has been one of the key movers in sorting out the new shirts. President Trevor then announced that it was a tradition at the Club on the first day of the new season to have a spider and we all gathered round the perimeter of the green and bowled a wood each towards the elusive jack in the middle. The winner was Gary Paine. All eight rinks were out to accommodate the 64 people who wanted to bowl, an amazing turnout. Everyone was glad that only ten ends were played in the cold windy conditions. We retired to the clubhouse to enjoy an American style tea. Thanks to Pauline who set everything out and to everyone who brought food. Here's to a good season of bowling with hopefully rather better weather .

Here's a link to some photos taken on the day.
